As we approach the blessed days of Eid al-Adha, we ask that you share your Qurban with our Rohingya brothers and sisters in need.

The Crisis Facing the Rohingya

The Rohingya community, a stateless minority from Myanmar, has faced unimaginable hardships. Over 950,000 Rohingya have sought refuge in Bangladesh, residing in the world's largest refugee camps. These camps, especially Camp 5 in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, are overcrowded and lack basic amenities such as adequate sanitation and lighting.

The Urgent Need for Nutrition

A recent survey revealed alarming levels of malnutrition and anaemia among children under five and women in the camp. Malnutrition threatens their health, impairing growth, increasing susceptibility to infections, and raising mortality rates. Anaemia, caused by iron deficiency, leads to fatigue, weakness, and severe complications during pregnancy and childbirth.

Red meat, rich in protein and iron, is crucial for combating these conditions. However, due to cultural preferences, availability, affordability, and access, the consumption of red meat among the Rohingya is significantly limited. This is where your help can make a life-saving difference.

Our Fresh Qurban Program

Muslim Aid Australia is implementing a humanitarian aid project to improve food security and nutrition for the Rohingya by distributing fresh meat to vulnerable families in Cox's Bazar during Eid al-Adha. Our program is designed with the utmost care and adherence to Islamic principles:

  • Ethical Sourcing: Before Eid, our experienced team visits local farmers and suppliers to inspect the livestock meticulously. We ensure that all animals meet strict Islamic guidelines and are defects-free.

  • Halal Sacrifice: During the three days of Eid, the animals are sacrificed according to Halal procedures under the supervision of our dedicated staff or a trusted representative.

  • Preparation & Packaging: The meat is carefully prepared and packaged into individual bags or boxes for needy families.

  • Local Delivery: We prioritise delivering the Qurban meat directly to families and communities within the designated regions, ensuring your donation reaches those most in need.
