Cyclone Winston devastates Fiji

23 Feb
Cyclone Winston created havoc on the Island of Fiji causing 12m high waves and forceful winds flattening whole villages and cutting communication across the small Island. Thousands displaced and left with no shelter as the death toll continues to rise. Schools converted into evacuation centres and roads closed due to downed powerlines. The situation is urgent and to stop any threat of disease or contamination spreading we need to act now!

MAA are one of the first aid organisation to respond to the catastrophe and has already begun distributing over 1,600 emergency food packs with essentials including rice, powdered milk, potatoes and oil.

“We aim to reach the most affected areas in Tailevu, Rakiraki, Ba, Tavua, and Lautoka as well as other parts of the country.”
