Locals describe it as the "worst drought in living memory" but things are about to go from bad to worse in the southern Queensland town of Stanthorpe, with the town water supply weeks away from drying up.
Water-saving measures in drought-ravaged southern Queensland have gone up yet another gear with "critical" restrictions recently imposed, limiting residents to 100 litres per person per day.
The drought has left one-third of ratepayers in the Southern Downs Regional Council area without a viable income as the agriculture industry within the region continues to suffer.
MAA is working with MCF to transport a further 20 truckloads of water to Drought Affected regions in QLD. For our first distribution of water we're planning to transport:
- 90 X 1000L tanks of water, and
- 11,520 X 10L bottles of water
- 440 X Hay Bales
We need your support to ensure we can reach those affected. Please donate generously towards this appeal and help those affected by the drought in Australia.
